V8 Supercars’ first visit to Kuala Lumpur later this year will include three 30-minute ‘races’.
Earlier this year, V8 Supercars signed a four-year heads of agreement to bring the category to the new-for-2015 KL City Grand Prix. The deal includes a demo run in August this year, and if all goes well the category will headline the event between 2016 and 2019.
Five V8 Supercars drivers and teams will head to KL next month for the demo, with Craig Lowndes (Triple Eight), Scott McLaughlin (GRM Volvo), Chaz Mostert (Prodrive Racing Australia), Will Davison (Erebus) and Todd Kelly (Nissan) all making the trip north.
The schedule has now been released for this year’s KL City Grand Prix, which includes three hours of track time for the five V8 Supercars, and three ‘street challenge’ demonstration races.
The V8s programme kicks off on Friday August 7 with two half-hour free practice sessions, before qualifying takes place on the Saturday morning.
There will then be three half-hour races, one on Saturday afternoon, one Sunday morning, and then another on the Sunday afternoon in the build-up to the KL City GT Cup.
