Whincup two for two in Tasmania
Jamie Whincup earned his 51st Australian V8 Supercars career win and added to the team's celebration by earning a major milestone for the Holden manufacturer with their 400th victory. The TeamVodafone driver started third on the grid had wheel spin off the standing start and dropped down, but only one spot.
"What an incredible weekend for us," smiled Whincup.
This weekend, Whincup was on the mark and overcame today's start hassle to take back third by the end of lap one. His pit crew helped on lap 19 with a super-fast pitstop, allowing him to take the lead. With his combined points in the two races this weekend, Whincup now has 2817 points to his team mate Craig Lowndes with 2623. The two Commodore drivers will continue their battle for the championship.
"Every race is unbelievably important and we just need to keep our head down and keep the focus,” Whincup said. "Once again, I had a fantastic car and a big thanks to the crew. Roll on Sandown."
Will Davison finished second followed by Mark Winterbottom on the Symmons Plains Raceway.
