Tim Slade in the #47 Lucky 7 Racing Falcon was the quickest of SBR’s drivers today, posting the session’s second fastest time behind Mark Winterbottom. Slade was also quick in his first session and is confident of a good weekend ahead.

Piloting the #9 SP Tools Racing Falcon, Shane van Gisbergen finished the day fourth quickest and believes there is still more to come from himself and his machine in qualifying tomorrow. With the threat of substantial rain tomorrow, ‘The Giz’ might be one to watch if the Sandown circuit becomes even slipperier than it already is on the soft tyre.

Alex Davison in the #4 IRWIN Racing Falcon rounded out the top five for SBR today, and was pleased with the development of his car which saw him jump 16 places up the grid between the two sessions.

The SBR Falcons will return to the track tomorrow morning at 11.15am for qualifying, followed by race one (39 laps/120km) at 4.05pm.

Tim Slade – Driver, Lucky 7 Racing Car #47

“I’ve said it before, but my Friday Championship is looking pretty strong. Jokes aside, we’ve struggled with one particular thing since QR (Queensland Raceway) but we seem to be on top of it this weekend. The car was good out of the truck which makes a big difference. Our performance today is a testament to the hard work our crew put in especially after a tough few rounds recently. Hopefully we can translate today’s speed into a good qualifying result tomorrow. This is our best chance since QR so we’ll be throwing everything at it.”

“The first session today we just worked on our race set up and then qualifying for session two. The car was probably not as good as the time sheets reflected but we’re in the ballpark now and should be able to fine tune a few things for a strong qualifying performance.”

Alex Davison – Driver, IRWIN Racing Car #4

“We started the day struggling a bit with the overall balance of the car but we had a look at Tim’s data between sessions and learnt a few things which really helped. We recovered really well which is promising and by the end of the session we were on song.”
