MCNALLY SOLID IN V8 UTES RACE 1

Glenn McNally had a solid race at Winton Raceway today to put himself on the front row for tomorrow's reverse-top-16 race 2 tomorrow.

Qualifying was a tough affair for the West Australian who put the VE Ute on grid 18 for the first race.

"The car is really hard to get around this track, we had a real struggle in qualifying," Glenn said.

"It put us behind the eight ball a bit but we will be aiming for the top 16 in race 1."

And that is exactly what Glenn did, finish race 1 in 15th place after a solid race.

"I really put my head down a\nd focused on getting into the top 16."

Glenn's car was performing exceptionally in the early stages of the race and once inside the top 16 he wasn't going to throw it away.

"I just wanted to consolidate our place on the front row in race 2 so I didn't do anything stupid once I was inside the top 16."

"We are going to have a real shot at our first race win tomorrow, whether we can pull it off or not we will have to wait and see."

Glenn will start from position 2 tomorrow right next to Charlie Kovacs.

"It will really give me the chance to see how I can go with clear air and little traffic ahead of me," Glenn said.

With the reverse-top-16 race 2 and the final race 3 tomorrow Glenn will be hoping to cement one of his best round results to date.
