Triple Eight unveils fresh Red Bull livery

V8 Supercars powerhouse team Triple Eight has officially pulled the covers off its 2016 Red Bull Racing Australia livery.

The new look will be carried by the team’s two Red Bull-backed drivers, with Jamie Whincup to be joined by newcomer Shane van Gisbergen in the RBRA Commodores.

According to team manager Mark Dutton, the new livery is a mix of good looks and practicality.

“I love the 2016 livery, the car looks more dynamic,” Dutton said.

“A livery is not only controlled by looks, but with the multi-race formats of V8 Supercars events, there has to be a certain level of practicality that other motorsport categories don’t need to worry about. We are constantly trying to balance this while pushing the boundaries.”

The livery launch also saw van Gisbergen officially unveiled as a RBRA driver, the Kiwi having switched from customer team Tekno in the off-season.

“I'm pretty excited for this year; it has been a while since it was first announced, so it is a pretty cool feeling seeing the livery and everything coming together in the build-up for the season” said van Gisbergen.

“I am very impressed with the team so far, it is easy to see why Red Bull Racing Australia has won so many races, Bathursts and championships.

“It will be cool to push myself against Craig [Lowndes] and Jamie and learn as much as I can off them, both on track and off in order to all get the best results for our teams.”
