MCNALLY SOLDIERS ON IN V8 SUPERCAR DEBUT

Hi-Tec Oils Racing driver Mark McNally has showed good determination in finishing his V8 Supercar debut in the Dunlop Townsville 400 today.

McNally overcame sickness and an engine problem to finish his first race in the top level of V8 Supercar competition in 25th position.

Keen to make a solid and steady debut, McNally stayed out of trouble early, but engine problems mid-race halted his run on lap 37.

The Hi-Tec Oils crew worked hard to fix the problem and sent McNally back on track to complete the race, finishing 11 laps down and scoring his first championship points.

Jamie Whincup won today's opening race of the Dunlop Townsville 400 ahead of Will Davison and Garth Tander.

WHAT MARK HAD TO SAY ...

Mark McNally - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore:

"I'm glad to get today out of the way really," said McNally.

"I felt absolutely shocking overnight and had a pretty heavy hit of gastro so I didn't get much sleep and felt very weak today, but I still got in the Hi-Tec Oils Commodore today and did my best.

"I probably finished off the race better than I started the race. I was just more settled and I probably got a little rattled early. I was pretty disappointed in my pace at the start but was pretty happy with my progress at the end of the race.

"I'll get a good sleep tonight and go out there again tomorrow. I've got some valuable laps under my belt to learn from. I'd like to qualify better tomorrow and put together a more solid run tomorrow."
