PERKINS HITS THE TRACK IN TOWNSVILLE

Dodo Racing Team driver Jack Perkins has taken to the brand new Townsville street circuit for the first time in practice for the Dunlop Townsville 400 today.

Perkins worked hard alongside race engineer Oscar Fiorinotto on refining the set-up of the #11 Dodo Holden Commodore, finishing today with the 27th fastest practice time.

The brand new 2.9-kilometre circuit made teams 'start from scratch' in practice, with no previous data or set-up information to draw on.

Perkins and the Dodo crew will work hard overnight to digest today's data and work at devising an improved car set-up for tomorrow.

Jamie Whincup was fastest in practice today ahead of Michael Caruso and Jason Richards.

WHAT JACK HAD TO SAY ...

Jack Perkins - #11 Dodo Holden Commodore:

"I normally like new tracks but unfortunately today just wasn't the best day from a results point of view for us," said Perkins.

"But we got a few things done on the Dodo Commodore and the team did a great job as we changed a few things on the car during practice.

"The position we ended up in is not where we deserve to be but we'll have a think about it tonight.

"It will equal everyone out tomorrow when we are all on the same quality of tyres."
