Solids points haul for TeamVodafone at Winton Motor Raceway
Almost a corresponding result to their starting order, a second and a seventh for TeamVodafone’s Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes (respectively) in today’s 200km soft tyre sprint race ensures they remain on top of the V8 Supercar Championship Series table.
Whincup dominated the majority of Sunday’s qualifying session until Winterbottom cleared his time by 9 one-hundredths of a second in the final few minutes.
Concerns over engine reliability led to a replacement after qualifying, the Holden pilot still managed the sixth fastest time of the session.
A faultess pit stop by the TeamVodafone pit crew saw Whincup gain valuable track position leap-frogging Tander in pitlane.
Lowndes held a consistent speed throughout the final race of the weekend, coming in one position behind where he started.
With 262 points now separating Whincup and Lowndes in the top two positions on the V8 Supercar Championship standings, TeamVodafone heads back to the Triple Eight workshop to prepare for Event 7 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series in Darwin from the 17th – 19th June.
