Whincup ahead of pack after Race 10 at Winton Motor Raceway
In a race predicated by pitstop strategy, TeamVodafone's Jamie Whincup, who started from third on the grid, gained a spot on the track, another in pitlane and then led the field home with economical tyre usage and three seconds to spare.
Teammate Craig Lowndes wasn't so fortunate. After losing the race lead on the opening lap, he lost further spots pitting amongst a melee of other cars. Lowndes struggled for grip as he battled amongst the back end of the top ten and eventually finished 11th.
Whincup has extended his lead in the championship and now sits 220 points clear of Lowndes who retained his second in the championship.
Sunday will wrap up the on-track action for the V8 Supercars with qualifying for Race 11 at 10.05am (AEST) ahead of the final 201 km race of the weekend at 1.05pm (AEST).
