Team BOC badly damaged

Street tracks bite hard as Team BOC co-driver Andrew Jones found out when he took too much curb and ended in the tyre barrier during practice at Surfers Paradise today.

Jones' car became unsettled across the curbs on his first flying lap of today's third practice session, pitching him into the tyre barriers and causing extensive damage to the front end and chassis.

Brad Jones, Team BOC Co-Owner: "We're still pulling it apart but it does look quite bad. We're going to try and fix it but it will be one of those wait and see deals where we won't know until we've got it apart. It's damaged the chassis quite badly."

Jason Bright, Team BOC: "I'm disappointed. That wall has cost me a whole weekend one other time so we'll just have to wait and see. It's a bit of a shame. Andy is out there doing the best he can and that wall bites pretty hard.

"We're not set up to rebuild a complete car. It just depends how much the tyre barrier did and whether it's repairable.

"The car was going well before that. We had a first good session and Andy had a good second session. I felt as though we are somewhere near the money so let's hope it's repairable."

Andrew Jones, Team BOC Co-Driver: "I'm obviously quite disappointed to have done damage to the car. It was a mistake on my behalf. I ran too much curb at Turn One. We were told not to use any curb and that we'd be monitored closely and then we sat and looked at footage post Practice Two and all the co-drivers were absolutely murdering the things.

"I arrived there first time in Practice Three using a lot of curb and it didn't land as nicely as I'd hoped. It hampers our run a little bit obviously but this is a very strong group and they've given us very strong race cars this year and I'm sure we'll be fine tomorrow."
