BARGWANNA OUT OF LUCK IN TASMANIA

Jason Bargwanna has again suffered from poor luck with contact forcing him out of the first race of the Falken Tasmania Challenge at Symmons Plains Raceway near Launceston today.

Bargwanna started from 24th position in the #11 Rock Commodore and on the second lap, slowed as he approached the spinning car of Dean Fiore.

However contact from behind pushed him into Fiore, damaging the front left suspension on Bargwanna's car and forcing him to retire from the race.

Tony Ricciardello drove a solid race in the #16 Stratco Commodore, finishing in 26th position.

Craig Lowndes won today's race at Symmons Plains Raceway ahead of Garth Tander and Greg Murphy.

KELLY RACING QUOTEBOARD:

JASON BARGWANNA - #15 Rock Commodore

"Clearly, we are really disappointed," said Jason Bargwanna.

"We haven't had a good run lately.

"We had fuel dramas at PI, tailshaft failure at Bathurst, Russell got us at Surfers and now this.

"I was just an innocent bystander in this one today. It's hard but you keep pressing on until you get a result."

TONY RICCIARDELLO - #16 Stratco Commodore

"I was probably expecting a bit more pace out of the soft tyre," said Tony Ricciardello.

"It wasn't too bad. We missed a lot of the mess in the first few laps and held our position.

"Then we had the throttle jam open at Turn 6 out of the blue. It freed itself at the pit stop so it was a little strange.

"We had a fairly good result and fairly good pace and we could stick with the pack for most of the race.

"It was a good solid finish for the Stratco Commodore and now we look to do even better tomorrow and improve our pace."
