JONES AND RICHARDS: STRONG COMBINATION

Team BOC has lived up to expectations at the Gold Coast 600 today, proving to be one of the strongest pairings for this weekend's new endurance format.

Andy Jones was second-quickest in the co-drivers' practice session today and Jason Richards was sixth overall despite making a slip on his hot-lap.

Both drivers are impressed with the new track layout and looking forward to the race tomorrow, after qualifying at 09:35.

"Coming onto the straight I lost a load of time on my fastest lap; I was just getting a bit greedy with the throttle and put myself on the dirty line. It's a shame because you do all the hard work for the whole lap and then dump a lot of time with one little mistake.

"P6 is a solid job though and I don't think we hit our potential. Both the Trading Post car and our car have been up there all through the sessions and when you start hitting the right numbers on a regular basis it's a good sign.

"I don't mind the new track layout I have to say. I was never a fan of the second chicane and I like the new corner. A hair pin with plenty of grip is good fun but I don't know about passing though; I think that's going to be the best part of none-existent. "

Andy Jones
Team BOC Co-Driver
"The new circuit is not that different but I don't think it's any worse. The real character of this circuit is still here, which is the double chicane at the back straight and we actually arrive there faster, which is pretty cool. It does take out three pretty good passing opportunities; now we probably only have one or two at best into Turn Two and off the beach after the double chicane.

"The car's working incredibly well and for those who follow the sport closely, they'll have seen that both the team's cars have been working very well since Darwin. It makes it a very enjoyable and competitive car to drive and I'm having a ball."
