LEARNING YEAR CONTINUES FOR MCNALLY ON THE GOLD COAST

Hi-Tec Oils Racing's Mark McNally continued his learning year in the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series during practice for the V8 Supercar Challenge as a part of the Nikon SuperGP on the Gold Coast in Queensland today.

After turning his first ever laps around the 4.47 km street circuit during the first segment of practice aboard #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore this morning McNally continually improved his time throughout the day.

Like many race weekends throughout 2009, McNally will aim to continually improve across this weekend's event while he learns another new circuit layout aboard the #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore.

Mark Winterbottom set the fastest time of the day ahead of reigning event and V8 Supercar Champion Jamie Whincup and Russell Ingall.

Tomorrow's action consists of the Top Ten Shootout at 9:00am followed by a pair of 34-lap races at 11:25am and 3:15pm local Queensland time.

WHAT MARK HAD TO SAY ...

Mark McNally - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore:

"I learnt an absolute heap today," said Mark McNally.

"It was good to get quite a few laps out there for my first time here. I have never driven anything on the track before and it's quite a tricky track.

"The corners on this track are quite different to anything I have experienced before, the way you really have to push around corners, and almost brake into blind areas which is a little bit tricky.

"I'm looking at the bigger goal of being quick on Sunday. It's going to take a lot, the other guys out here are really quick. We made a lot of progress toady. I'm looking forward to getting out there and pushing forward tomorrow."
