Friday 5th February 2004 - The Holden Racing Team's Todd Kelly swapped four wheels for two earlier today when he teamed up with CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha Supercross rider Cameron Taylor for a training session at Frankston Motorcycle Park.
Taylor who is currently sitting third in the Australian Supercross Nationals gave the V8 Supercar star driver a few tips on how to tackle jumps such as a "double", "triple", "table top" and the notorious "whoops".
Taylor took the HRT driver through his paces on board a YZ250S and was impressed at how quick Kelly was on the motocross circuit.
"He went very well," said Taylor. "I was impressed at how quickly he got around the circuit but I think I wore him out a bit.
"Todd did a couple of laps and got some arm pump which happens to all of us, but it is very uncomfortable.
"Todd needs a bit of work on his style and technique but hopefully what I showed him today will help him when he is out riding his WR450 with his mates," said Taylor.
Kelly, who only returned to Australia yesterday after whirlwind tour of the United States, said he is an avid supercross fan and dirt bike rider who follows the CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha team's championship campaign closely.
"I am a big fan of supercross," said Kelly. "I really admire what these guys do they have to be super fit to race one of these (bikes) around those huge supercross tracks.
"I ride my dirt bike a lot and I am quite fit, but let me tell you my arms were getting pretty sore out there.
"I enjoy riding my Yamaha up at the property in Mildura but what these guys do is amazing.
"It was great to be able to ride with a professional in that category, said Kelly.
Taylor and the CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha team are preparing for tomorrows fourth round of the Australian Supercross Nationals at Melbourne's Olympic Park Stadium. Tickets are available at the gate.
