LAMBORGHINI driver Paul Stokell stormed to a spectacular victory in the final round of the Century Batteries GTP Nations Cup at Mount Panorama, Bathurst, today. After winning a first-leg race yesterday, Stokell started at the back of the field in today's reverse-grid event over seven laps, but still managed to forge to the front and win by an impressive 4.5 seconds. Geoff Morgan scored the best result of his season to finish second in a Dodge Viper ACR, ahead of Ferrari driver Mark Noske. The 20-car field of some of the world's most exotic coupes made a spectacular sight as they raced through rain and fog with headlights blazing. The Ferrari and the Porsche of Queenslander Mike Quinn survived a breathtaking touch at more than 220 kmh on the main straight. Half a lap later, Quinn hit the wall at the top of Mountain Straight, resulting in the only yellow caution period of the race. Third place for Noske lifted him closer in the pointscore to Porsche driver Peter Fitzgerald, who is second in the series. The pair are now only four points apart, with a third race tomorrow set to finally decide the 2000 season runner-up. Porsche driver Jim Richards has already wrapped up the Nations Cup championship. <pre> RESULTS: 1. Paul Stokell (Lamborghini Diablo SVR) 2. Geoff Morgan (Dodge Viper ACR) 3.
