FPR TOP FORD TEAM AT SHANGHAI V8 SUPERCAR ROUND

June 12, 2005 - Ford Performance Racing (FPR) drivers Jason Bright and Greg Ritter were Ford's highest placed finishers in today's third and final race at China's Shanghai International Circuit.

CAT FPR Falcon driver Jason Bright raced from 20th on the grid to finish 6th, despite a first lap accident and spin that dropped him even further back through the field. Bright's pace was amongst the fastest in the final Shanghai race, which was held in fine and hot conditions.

A combination of slick pit stops and consistent car speed ensured that both FPR Falcons were positioned well within the top ten for the third 30 lap race.

Ford Credit FPV Falcon driver Greg Ritter started today's final race from 10th on the grid after a storming drive in the day's earlier heat, when he made up 13 places to be placed in the top ten for the final. The third race saw Ritter continue his strong form, spending most of the race as the highest positioned Ford driver within an otherwise all Holden leaderboard. Ritter finished the race in 8th place, earning the Prodrive team two top ten finishes in the race and at this fifth Championship round.

Holden Racing Team driver Todd Kelly won the third race and the imaugural Shanghai Round, ahead of Steven Richards and Paul Radisich. Bright finished 7th and Ritter 9th for the round.

Team FPR will spend the evening re-packing their cars and equipment into two specially designed airboxes and custom racking systems for freighting back to Australia in time to prepare for the 6th Round of the Championship to be held in Darwin from July 1 to 3.

#6 Jason Bright - "If not for the first corner accident today, this would have been a brilliant race for us. We lost some 16 seconds to the field due to that. The Safety Car period combined with some great pit work and good car speed brought us back into contention. We improved the car substantially with every session and race this weekend and while there is more that we can improve on, I am pleased with our form here in Shanghai. This is a great circuit, it is both challenging and rewarding and it was fantastic to see so many locals come out to enjoy the action."

#5 Greg Ritter - "It was good to nail a top ten finish to the race weekend after things didn't start off to plan in the opening race. We made several changes to the car between races two and three and we probably went a bit too far with the balance of the car as it wasn't as good as it was in race two, this is why we dropped a couple of places in the sprint to the end of the race. I have enjoyed racing here so much, Shanghai was such a new experience both culturally and from a professional perspective on the track. I have to say that today's final race of the round was the hottest race that I have ever driven in!"

FPR Motorsport Director Tim Edwards - "An exceptional drive by both of our drivers today. Jason's race from being 16 seconds behind after his first turn spin all the way up to 6th place was outstanding. Greg has driven solidly throughout, doing a fantastic job all weekend and the team pit stops were excellent, particularly in race three where the crew serviced one car directly after the other, All in all it was a fantastic effort by the team. This was a great event - we were all impressed by the number of locals in the grandstands this weekend as we didn't know what to expect. The whole event from start to end was run faultlessly and we look forward to returning."
