INGALL READY TO TURN SPEED INTO RESULTS AT SANDOWN

Supercheap Auto Racing's Russell Ingall says he is ready to convert the speed he has shown over the past few rounds into an outright result at the Midas 400, round five of the 2008 V8 Supecar Championship Series, at Sandown, Victoria this weekend.

Ingall, who is coming of a successful test day last week, has endured an up and down start to the year where his outright pace has been masked by a number of minor issues.

"There is no doubt we have got a competitive package this year in the Supercheap Auto team but we've just got to get it all together at the right time which will then lead us to a good result," said Ingall.

"During the first few rounds we had already made some good gains while learning 'on the run' but last week's test gave us the opportunity to really understand where we can improve further.

"Sandown is a track which we should go well at, our horsepower has always been good and with the gains we have recently achieved in our set up I'm upbeat about our chances this weekend. If we can put together a good performance during qualifying I think we'll be in a good position to battle for a spot on the podium."

During his previous visits to the Sandown International Raceway the 2005 Series Champion has enjoyed various amounts of success. Ingall won the Sandown 500 in 1998 and also finished on the podium during 2004 at the same event when paired with Luke Youlden.

Practice begins on Saturday afternoon with qualifying and race one held on Sunday. The round will be highlighted by a pair of 39-lap races on the Queen's Birthday public holiday Monday.

Entering this round, the fifth of 14 in the schedule, Garth Tander sits atop of the championship standings on 896 points, 14 clear of Rick Kelly on second place with Mark Winterbottom 10 points further back in third. Ingall is 20th on 373 points.
