All teams were at the Ipswich circuit so their international drivers could familiarise themselves with the V8 Supercars before they head out onto the tight and challenging street circuit of the Gold Coast this Friday at 10.40am.

Both Marco in the #7 car and Graham in #15 a lot of time behind the wheel of the two Jack Daniel's Racing machines to acquaint themselves with the cars, while Rick Kelly and Tim Blanchard, (subbing for Todd Kelly) helped them both get used to the unique characteristics of the V8 Supercars.

For both it was a steep, but enjoyable learning curve, especially Marco who had never raced a sedan or right hand drive car before and had a throttle stick open going into turn 1, ending in the gravel trap with no damage.

Rick Kelly – “It was great to see Graham and Marco get to grips with the Jack Daniel's Racing cars so well today. Both spent a lot of time behind the wheel and I know they will be competitive when they drive on the Gold Coast street circuit, starting Friday”.

Graham Rahal – “The car is a lot of fun to drive and its very challenging and so different to what I’m used to, but I have to say I really enjoyed myself here and looking forward to getting on the street circuit at Surfers. It’s a track I’ve driven before to get an understanding of what that’s like. I’m awfully impressed with the cars, they’re really good fun”.

Marco Andretti – “Today was a lot of fun and I had a smile on my face the entire time. I had a scare at one point when the throttle stuck open on me in turn 1. When I came in I said I’m having enough fun, you don’t have to stick the throttle open on me. But I’m pleased with my pace and we’re just a couple of tenths off so it’s good. I can’t wait to get on the Surfers track now”.
