Tony D'Alberto is heading back to familiar territory this weekend as the V8 Supercar Series heads to Queensland Raceway for Round 7 of the Series.

After a strong performance two weeks ago at Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway Tony is happy to be back at a track he has raced at before.

"Half the tracks we go to this year are ones I have not raced a V8 Supercar on," he said.

"It is good to come to a track where I can get on the gas from the first lap because I know my way around it."

With competition so tight in this Series Tony is under no illusion as to how hard this weekend will be.

"We have 29 really good cars and drivers out there and the times have been so close the past few meetings that if anything is not quite right for qualifying, car or driver, and yo are going to have to fight from the back.

"Qualifying is the area that we need to improve most as that has been our weak point this year.

"I have had plenty of race -pace but it is really hard to make the most of it if I start well down the grid."

The 'giant paperclip' circuit does not faze Tony, in fact he has been on the podium before in the Fujitsu V8 Series.

Tony has practice on Friday with Qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, Race 2 and 3 on Sunday.
