His third place today confirms an outright third placing on the podium in his rookie V8 Supercar showing at Mt Panorama.

The #80 Monster Energy/Gear Wrench driver started today's race third and held position for the duration.

“I’m really happy with the end result, I would have obviously liked to get the win but I don’t think the win was there for us today, I just didn’t quite have the pace of the front two,” Pye said.

“We had a good crack at it into Turn 1 at one point but we will bounce back next year in the main series or the Dunlop Series and hopefully get a win on the Mountain.

“Overall it was a great result and I really can’t thank Monster Energy, Gear Wrench and Triple Eight enough for their hard work."

Pye secured 258 points for Round 5 after the third place finish for the meeting and remains fourth on 1150 points in the Dunlop Series Championship standings.

The Dunlop Series will head to Winton for Round 6 from 16-18 November.
