SOLID START FOR HI-TEC PAIRING AT PHILLIP ISLAND

Hi-Tec Oils Racing pairing Mark McNally and Tony Ricciardello have made a solid start to proceedings in the L&H 500 with the 24th fastest time at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria today.

McNally was encouraged with the improvement of the #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore over the course of the day, which was hampered by strong winds, while Ricciardello found his feet on his return to V8 Supercar competition.

Tomorrow will see separate practice, qualifying and qualifying heat races for each driver to determine the starting grid for Sunday's L&H 500.

Mark Winterbottom set the fastest time in practice today ahead of Jamie Whincup and the Brad Jones Racing Commodore of Jason Richards and Cameron McConville.

HI-TEC OILS RACING QUOTEBOARD

Mark McNally - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore:

"I think the wind is making the car move around a bit at high speed," said Mark McNally.

"All in all I think I am pretty happy with the set-up we had today on the Hi-Tec Oils Commodore.

"I need to get a few more laps under my belt and I am sure we will get there. Still not 100 percent with the car but I don't think we are too far away."

Tony Ricciardello - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore:

"I need to give myself a bit more of a chance out there and get a bit of confidence up," said Tony Ricciardello.

"Between Mark and myself I am sure we can do a good job on Sunday.

"These cars are about confidence, and that's what I'm getting. I'm slowly progressing so we will keep pegging away and we will be happy with it in the end."
