Australian GT Championship leader David Wall will join Karl Reindler in the Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing Commodore in the first V8 Supercar endurance race of the season, the L&H 500 at Phillip Island.

In the lead up to this weekend's round, David joined Karl and the rest of the Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing team last week at Winton Raceway to prepare for the race, spending time practicing driver changes and getting used to the car.

For David the test sessions were very beneficial in the lead up to this weekend's race.

"It was great to spend time with the team before we got to the track this week," said David.

"As I got more laps under my belt I was able to really push and set my personal best time at Winton.

"After the successful test I am looking forward to the race - I think Karl and I are going to be a strong combination."

While David has not spent much time in a V8 this year, the most recent round of the Australian GT Championship was a mini-endurance round held at the Phillip Island circuit in July meaning he is familiar with circuit.

He has also competed in an international 12-hour GT endurance race in Malaysia and the Bathurst 12-hour race earlier this year so he has plenty of endurance racing experience.

This weekend will see David debut a new helmet thanks to BSM Sport, a new Stilo ST 4 Rally.

Stilo are better known in the rally world but David is very pleased with the helmet.

"My new helmet is strong, lighter and the reception between me in the car and the team back in the pits is much clearer," said David.

"This will be particularly helpful in the endurance races like this weekend's race where the timing of pit stop calls can be critical."

The L&H 500 kicks off tomorrow (Friday) with three 40 minute practice sessions to be shared between both drivers. First practice kicks off at 11:30am, with second practice at 12:50pm and third at 14:10pm.

David Wall is racing this year thanks to the continued support of Wilson Security, Payce, Shannons and Mount Aqua.
