BARGS AND FROSTY CONFIRM THEIR ALLIANCE
Larkham -- Orrcon Racing team owner Mark Larkham is pleased to announce that both Jason Bargwanna and Mark Winterbottom will continue to lead the Gold Coast based team into 2006 and beyond.
The confirmation of both drivers with three rounds remaining in the Championship allows the team to focus on the remainder of the year and build a solid platform for the coming years.
"We have renewed the contracts with both of our drivers in the past week and are very pleased to have done so," said Larkham.
"2005 isn't what I would call a hallmark year for a whole range of reasons including plenty of 'Murphy's Law' so to speak, and incidents like the China drain. As such we see the best road forward for this team is with it's current drivers. Can we do a better job?...yes we can. Are we all working on that?...absolutely. Collectively this team and its drivers have a firm belief that if we continue to apply ourselves as we did as recently as Bathurst last weekend, results are just around the corner. Most importantly I believe we share a common passion and commitment required to achieve that."
"Bargs brings much experience to the team, is a great racer in the true sense, and shares the tenacity that is the very backbone of this team. Mark is young and very talented, no doubt about it. Now emerging from his 'Rookie period' in V8 Supercars, Mark has matured a lot and we have learnt much about each other that will allow us to create an environment which will see him come out in 2006 well and truly on the front foot...I cannot wait.
"Whilst there is always a very competitive rivalry between our drivers, which is healthy, Frosty and Bargs do get on particularly well. This is not always the case along pit lane and will prove beneficial with the process of setting and achieving common goals as part of a 'total team effort' to raise our performance and gain strong results."
The extension of Bargwanna's arrangement will see him start his fourth year with Larkham Motor Sport next year. He joined the team at the start of the 2003 season alongside Larkham. Winterbottom joined alongside Bargwanna when Larkham retired from full-time driving in the Championship at the end of the 2003 season and 2006 marks his third year with the team.
The next round of the 2005 V8 Supercar Championship will be held on the streets of Surfers Paradise on October 20-23
