INGALL EYES OFF HISTORY MAKING WIN AT ORAN PARK

Supercheap Auto Racing's Russell Ingall will have his eyes well and truly set on making history this weekend as the V8 Supercar Championship Series says farewell to Sydney's Oran Park Raceway at the NRMA Motoring & Services Grand Finale, round 14, this weekend.

After 38 consecutive years of hosting a round of the Australian Touring Car/V8 Supercar Championship, this weekend will be the final time a round of Australia's premier motor racing series will be held at the venue.

While some of Ingall's fellow drivers will have their thoughts trained on championship results, Ingall will be focusing on the Event podium as he attempts to 'tick the box' on a round win to close out a resurgent year - which saw him again become a serious contender and taking both race and round podiums.

While Ingall looks to write his name in the history books as the last V8 Supercar driver to win at the venue, he will have history on his side with a Oran Park round win (2005) already under his belt.

The four-day Event will begin with support categories completing their practice sessions on Thursday prior to practice for the V8 Supercars being conducted on Friday afternoon. Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning followed by three 55-lap races across Saturday and Sunday.

WHAT HE HAS TO SAY...

Russell Ingall - #39 Supercheap Auto Racing Commodore:

"This year we came into it looking to run in the top five and become a consistent contender for the podium," said Ingall.

"So far this year we have got a couple of podium results but haven't had a round win, and that is what I will be looking for this weekend -- and what better place to do it than the final time our Series visits the Sydney circuit.

"I have won there before, and with some of the others focusing on championship points with this being the final round, I am going to look to take advantage of any opportunities that come my way and try and get on the top step of that podium come Sunday."
