Sydney's Lansvale Racing Team to make their first top ten shootout appearance of the season at Oran Park.
July 27, 2002 - 3:30pm - Lansvale Racing V8 Supercar Team driver Cameron McConville has qualified 5th at Oran Park today, earning the sole Sydney based team a place in their first top shoot out of the season.
McConville's fastest lap of 1:09.2778s was only bettered by Holden Racing Team drivers Jason Bright and Mark Skaife and top session placegetter Marcos Ambrose in a SBR Falcon during the high pressure 25 minute qualifying session.
This was followed by the second 50 per cent qualifying session that saw Max Wilson, Garth Tander and Russell Ingall power their way into the top ten to fight out the shoot out for grid positions at 3:35pm today.
Cameron McConville - "I was quietly confident that we could make the shootout this weekend, but having said that, you can never be so sure in this series. Being at our home circuit, I'm looking forward to the challenge of setting a one-off flying lap. I enjoy doing a shootout lap without any other cars on the circuit - although I haven't had much practice at it this season!"
