Mark Winterbottom started 2nd in the 11th race of the V8 Supercar season but was leading before the 24 car field barreled down into turn one. After taking the top spot from pole-sitter James Courtney, Frosty never looked back. He led all 35 laps en route to his second win of the season, cutting deep into Lowndes' points lead.

Early in the race, tempers flared between yesterday's winner Jason Bright and Tim Slade. Bright went in search of payback after he and Slade made some contact in turn ten. He bumped him, then slammed him, then ran him off the track, and Tim Slade was ultimately left with a broken left rear wheel. Bright was handed a pass-through penalty for the incident.

At the one-third point of the sprint race, Robert Dahlgreen's Volvo started smoking heavily. It may have had something to do with a crash that damaged his front-end during qualifying earlier. With his car stranded on the circuit, the safety car was deployed just as Will Davison went for a harmless spin.

When the race restarted, Winterbottom pulled away from the field once again. At lap 20, Jack Perkins lost control on his own and went for wild spin. Things went from bad to worse after that with Perkins blowing a left rear tire seven laps later, causing damage to the left rear fender of his car as well.

Winterbottom won the race by nearly two seconds over James Courtney. They were followed by Mostert, Whincup, Van Gisbergen, McLaughlin, Percat, Reynolds, Tander, and Coulthard. Championship leader Craig Lowndes finished a disappointing 16th and only has an 18 point buffer between himself and Winterbottom now.
