Alex Davison and the IRWIN Racing crew have completed their one and only pre-season V8 Supercar test ahead of the opening double-header in the Middle East.

IRWIN Racing joined the other Queensland-based teams at Willowbank for a full day's running. At the end of the day Davison completed 129 laps and set the seventh quickest time.

The day was disrupted with scattered showers, which hampered the testing schedule for the IRWIN Ford. The morning was spent working on a brake package ahead of the opening race in Abu Dhabi, while during the afternoon Davison and new Race Engineer David Stuart worked on improving the handling and balance of the IRWIN Racing Ford.

The IRWIN Racing team now has four days to pack for the airlift direct to Abu Dhabi with cars then set to hit the track on Thursday 18 February.

What IRWIN Racing's Alex Davison had to say:

"The IRWIN Racing team missed a lot of the dry running in the first half of the day with the weather situation. The second half of the day was better and although we would have liked to be closer to the top of the time sheets we certainly learnt a lot. It was the first day working with David Stuart and that relationship is still evolving. Although we didn't make the best use of the one set of fresh tyres, we made some very positive changes at the end of the day, which has me feeling very positive heading to the Middle East. The test is now done and the season starts now - so it's time to get the race face on."

What IRWIN Racing Engineer David Stuart had to say:

"It was frustrating with the weather. Our main aim was to get a brake package that Alex was happy with; which we have achieved. We didn't maximise the IRWIN Ford with the fresh tyres, but the changes we made after that was very positive. The crew all worked very well and we have completed all our other workload in terms of ensuring the IRWIN Falcon is ready to go. The good thing is that our team can now finalise preparations in the coming days so that when we roll the car of the plane we will be ready to gol"
