IRWIN Racing's Lee Holdsworth has left the inaugural Austin 400 in Texas hot and tired after completing all four races over two days.
On the track the Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 from Erebus Motorsport completed the races in 27th, 20th, 21st and 20th after a tough run with qualifying with the car starting from 26th, 24th, 24th and 26th.In temperatures around 34°C, Holdsworth had to make his way through the field in each of the races, as the qualifying pace which had seen the IRWIN AMG E63 start in the middle of the pack at recent events, not come to the fore this weekend.
Although disappointed with the qualifying performance, Holdsworth was satisfied with the race pace, but along with the rest of the crew is looking forward to regaining the qualifying form at the next round in Darwin.
The entire IRWIN Racing operation had plenty of praise for the race event at The Circuit Of The Americas, with a three-day crowd of 68,891 providing a great atmosphere.
As well as a strong travelling contingent from Australia, plenty of local fans got their first taste of the V8 Supercars and are looking forward to future editions.
All cars and equipment will be air-freighted back to Australia, with the IRWIN Racing crew heading back to their South-East Queensland base before making the trip to the Top-End for the SkyCity Triple Crown at Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway 14-16 June.
