The new era of V8 Supercars gets underway this weekend with the Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide.
It will include the debut of AMG Mercedes-Benz, but IRWIN Racing's Lee Holdsworth has modest expectations for what will be a tough weekend of racing. In terms of making the Clipsal 500 with a brand new platform, the team at IRWIN Racing has in some respects already won its first race.
This weekend driver Lee Holdsworth will be part of a three-car Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 effort from Erebus Motorsport. Even for an established driver it is a step into the unknown. Holdsworth commented: "Race engineer Brad Wischusen has been working around the clock in the lead-up to Adelaide. Although the team has only scratched the surface of the new car's potential - he says race miles will be critical at the Clipsal 500."
