TOP END TOP TEN START FOR JASON BRIGHT

July 2, 2005 - Ford Performance Racing (FPR) has a berth in today's Darwin V8 Supercar race top ten starting grid following qualifying and the top ten shootout.

CAT FPR Falcon driver Jason Bright set the 9th fastest lap of today's top ten shootout, which was held in hot and fine conditions. Ford Credit FPV Falcon driver Greg Ritter was unfortunate to miss the top ten shoot out by one tenth of a second during today's ultra-competitive top end qualifying session. Ritter will start today's opening 17 lap race at 3:00pm (3:30pm EST) from 16th on the grid.

Pole position went to Holden driver Mark Skaife following the shoot out, with his team mate Todd Kelly second and Ford driver Craig Lowndes third. Less than one second separates the top 23 cars from Darwin's 34 car field.

#6 Jason Bright - "I didn't have the best of laps in the shoot out - but on the positive side we have got some reasonable pace here. We earned our way into the top ten and it would have been good to be higher on the starting grid, but the guys who have got those spots are pretty quick at the moment."

#5 Greg Ritter - "I have to say that I am a bit disappointed with 16th as we were so close - the circuit had more grip today as well, so as more rubber is laid down it is improving. The car is still not perfect but we have moved considerably forward since yesterday."

FPR returns to the track at 3:00pm local time for the first of three races, (two to be held tomorrow) to decide the 6th Round of the 2005 V8 Supercar Championship Series.
