Health issues sideline Andrew Jones in Townsville

V8 Supercars and Australian GT driver Andrew Jones will miss the remainder of the Townsville weekend due to illness.

Jones, 35, was due to compete in both the Dunlop Series and the Australian GT Championship this weekend. However, after suffering from chest pains after yesterday’s Dunlop Series practice he was admitted to hospital for an overnight stay.

Brad Jones Racing issued a short statement today to confirm that Jones will miss the remainder of the weekend.

“Some not so good news to share with you this morning. After some chest pains in yesterday’s final practice, Andrew was taken to hospital where he has been overnight.

“He won’t be able to race this weekend but is in a stable condition. No further updates at this time. Thanks for the support and well wishes.”

Jones is also set to race for BJR alongside Jason Bright at this year’s three endurance races.
