MCNALLY SETTLES INTO FUJITSU V8'S AT WINTON

Mark McNally gave his Fujitsu V8 Supercar its first run at Winton Raceway in today's practice sessions after being completely rebuilt after the serious accident at Adelaide's Clipsal 500.

With the car only being finished last night there was no chance for a shakedown which meant today's first practice session would be the first time Mark would have an opportunity to check that everything was ok with the car.

The first session didn't produce the results Mark was hoping for with a major balance issue between the front and rear of the car.

"The car was not well balanced front to rear and I was really concerned that there was something quite serious wrong with it," Mark said.

After working through the data with his engineers Mark found that the car was far too soft in the rear compared to the front.

"We changed the springs and sway bar in the back of the car and made a few other minor tweaks."

In the second session Mark was 6th fastest, just 3.5 tenths from the front.

"The second session was good and it gave me confidence that we are back on track with the set up of the car," he said. "Sixth was good but I know that we can go faster here, we have done so before.

"We still have a little work to do but I won't be happy tomorrow if we are not on pole position or at least much closer to it."

Mark ha qualifying and race 1 tomorrow with race 2 and 3 scheduled for Sunday.
