FPR & CATERPILLAR TO PART WAYS AT THE COMPLETION OF THE 2006 V8 SUPERCAR SEASON
November 6, 2006 - Ford Performance Racing (FPR) wish to advise that their partnership with Caterpillar will end at the completion of the 2006 season.
After a long-term association which has successfully existed since the formation of FPR in 2003, the team wishes to thank Caterpillar for their integral support.
According to FPR Commercial Director Rod Barrett, this announcement marks the end of a highly successful V8 Supercar marketing alliance.
"It was an extremely difficult decision for FPR to part with the CAT team, and one that took some time to reach. We thank Caterpillar for the long term contribution that the company has made to the establishment and development of FPR into a front running team during this mutually successful marketing partnership."
In July, Caterpillar advised FPR that the company had decided against exercising its option to continue as the naming rights sponsor of the number 6 Falcon, as the team could not confirm its driver line-up for 2007 at that time. After FPR signed its new driver in late September, negotiations re-opened with CAT, however these negotiations failed to produce an agreeable outcome.
FPR will make an announcement in relation to it's new naming rights sponsor and driver of the number 6 FPR Falcon early in the New Year.
This announcement also has no effect on the branding or sponsorship of the CAT FPR Falcon during the remaining three rounds of the 2006 Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series.
