Drew Russell to return to Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series
After being forced to part with Race Image Racing just before the Townsville round of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series, Drew Russell has announced that he will return to the series for the final two rounds of the championship at Bathurst and Homebush.
Drew will be returning with a Brad Jones Racing BF and will be run by the team he has spent much of his life with, Novocastrian Motorsport.
"We have been fortunate enough to purchase a BF from BJR that was last raced at Bathurst in 2007," Drew said after taking delivery of the car.
"I have been really impressed by the professional support we have received from Brad and his team - they have done everything they can to help us get this deal in place in such a short period of time.
"Unfortunately we are not going to be able to get up to Queensland Raceway this weekend, but between we will be back on track for Bathurst and Homebush and I can't wait.
"We have time between now and Bathurst to test the car and ensure it is set up perfectly before the race weekend begins and with the support Brad Jones Racing are giving us we should be in a strong position.
"I will have my first opportunity to run in the car next week and it will be great to finally get back in a V8; leading a race at Winton seems like a lifetime ago.
"The last few months have been so frustrating, being forced to watch the race from the sidelines is not much fun!
"I really want to say a big thank you to those who have stood by me over the last few months. It has been a tough time and I really appreciate the support I have received from my sponsors, friends and family, as well as fans of the sport who have taken the time to contact me.
"I promise that I will not let their support go unrewarded when we hit the track at Bathurst in October."
