V8 Supercars endurance specialist Taz Douglas has inked a front-running deal for the second-tier Dunlop Series round at Phillip Island this weekend.
Douglas, who finished second at the 2014 Bathurst 1000 for Nissan, is currently looking log miles as he continues to lock down an enduro seat for 2016.
To help that cause the Victorian has signed on with front-running squad Eggleston Motorsport for the Phillip Island Dunlop Series round, which means he’ll be in a ex-Triple Eight Holden Commodore.
“It’s been a long time coming (for me) to have the opportunity to drive with a genuine front-running team,” said Douglas.
“I have worked extremely hard to get this deal over the line, and can’t wait to get out on track.
“[Team owners] Ben and Rachael [Eggleston] run a very professional operation, they’re strong racing record solidifies that, so I’m looking forward to Phillip Island and trying to achieve some solid results.”
While this deal is a one-off, Douglas is hopeful of finding the funding to continue with Eggleston beyond Phillip Island.
“At this stage I’ll only be in the car for Phillip Island, however I am trying my best to secure funds to get to Perth for round 3 in a month’s time,” added Douglas.
As revealed by Motorsport.com last week, Douglas is yet to lock down a deal with Nissan for the 2016 enduros.
