Holden Racing Team’s James Courtney topped this morning’s third V8 Supercars practice for the Winton SuperSprint.
Courtney, who will compete in his 300th V8 Supercars race this weekend, set his best of a 1m23.017s during a flurry of fast laps at the end of the 15-minute session.
That knocked Michael Caruso from top spot, the Nissan driver having gone fastest seconds early, while Will Davison also had a small stint up top inside the last 90 seconds before winding up third fastest.
Fabian Coulthard was fourth, ahead of Chaz Mostert, who had been fastest two minutes from the chequered flag before being shuffled back to fifth.
Mostert’s Prodrive team-mate David Reynolds was sixth.
Volvo had a tough session, Scott McLaughlin the best of the S60s back in 19th, while Triple Eight also struggled, Jamie Whincup just 14th fastest while Craig Lowndes was 20th.
