Fresh from a strong showing at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, Cat Racing star John Bowe is keen to continue that form at the next round of the V8 Supercar Championship at Eastern Creek Raceway this weekend.

Bowe bounced back from a battle-scared opening race in Adelaide to finish fourth in the teaming rain in the second 250km race on Sunday giving the team equal fourth position for the weekend.

The #600 Falcon also earned the honour of being the fastest Falcon in the top ten shoot-out.

But the Tasmanian star is fully aware you can not rest on your laurels.

"Adelaide was a bit of a turning point for our team for this year, but we still have a lot of work to do to bridge the gap," Bowe said.

"We finally had a bit of luck in Adelaide, but if you can qualify towards the front, your luck tends to improve because their is less chance of being caught up in someone else's drama."

Prior to his fourth placing in Adelaide on the Sunday, Bowe had been forced off the road four times in three championship rounds.

Fresh after their Adelaide success, the Cat team undertook further testing prior to Eastern Creek.

"Last year we had a bit of troubled time at the Creek, but apart from that, I have always gone fairly well around there," Bowe said.

"The nature of the circuit makes it very difficult to pass, which makes qualifying all the more important.

"It does have a very long straight, but the track veers to the right just before turning left in what would be two prime passing spots."

With double points on offer, Bowe's Adelaide success catapulted him from 25th to 13th in the points standings. He is now keen to continue the trend to charge up the points standings.

"Consistency is the real key in this championship because the competition gets faster every year," Bowe said.

"The year didn't start well for us, but I am confident we have now really turned things around.

"We lost our way with the car at the first couple of races, but we showed some good speed at Adelaide.

"The aim now is to keep the momentum going for the remainder of the year." {TB} EASTERN CREEK RECORD: GRAND PRIX CIRCUIT 1992 Ford Sierra Grid: 2nd (1st) Heat 1: 1st Heat 2: 1st Round: 1st
