Endurance drivers named for Team Betta Electrical.
Briggs Motorsport spent Wednesday this week testing new drivers at Queensland Raceway, seeking co-drivers for both Team Betta Electrical cars in the upcoming endurance races this season.
Final selection was made today, naming Dean Canto as partner to Max Wilson in car 65, whilst Mathew White was selected to co-drive with Tony Longhurst in car 66 in the two car of the two-car team.
Mathew White 28 resides in Melbourne and commenced his motor racing career at the age of seventeen.
White campaigned in the Sportsman's Series at Calder Park before stepping up to the Austcar Series at the Thunderdome and going on to win two titles and becoming the youngest ever Austcar champion.
Year 2000, saw White enter the Konica Series with his own team, his first experience at flat racing, attaining five podium finishes from five starts and finishing runner up for the series.
White also campaigned in his first endurance race that year finishing 11th in the Queensland 500 at Willowbank.
Last year the team had to exit from the Konica Series due to lack of sponsorship support and was left with only campaigning the endurance races last season with Stone Brothers Racing.
I'm really looking forward to driving for Team Betta Electrical, although my test laps were relatively brief, the car felt very strong and I couldn't be teamed up with a more experienced driver than Tony Longhurst, said White.
I think we will make a great team and I can't wait for the races to roll around, he said.
Fitness is very much a key part of preparing for the endurance races, so I will be
Placing a lot of importance in training in the lead up.
John Briggs is pleased with his selection of drivers, saying that with the marked improvement in the performance in both Team Betta Electrical race cars he expects both cars to be in the top five, come the endurance races.
