Betta Electrical 500 confirmed for 2003 Sandown 500.
Electrical retail giant with over 400 retail outlets throughout Australia and New Zealand, Betta Electrical has been confirmed as naming rights sponsor of the newly announced 500-kilometre endurance race for V8 Supercars at Sandown Raceway.
Less than 24 hours after the new race was announced, IMG Director of Motorsport, Geoff Jones confirmed the event would be known as the Betta Electrical 500.
"We're delighted to confirm Betta Electrical as the naming rights sponsor of this fantastic new Event," Mr Jones said.
"There is a lot of history and prestige attached to the 500 kilometre endurance race at Sandown for drivers and teams and Betta Electrical can see the benefits of being involved with an Event of this calibre."
Thrilled with the results of its first year as naming rights sponsor of the Betta Electrical Racing team, Chief Executive Officer of Betta Stores Limited, Guy Houghton, confirmed the decision to sponsor the Betta Electrical 500 as an extension of its strategic marketing plan.
"We saw V8 Supercar racing as the perfect avenue to increase our branding exposure for our Betta Electrical stores and we have been thrilled with the results we have achieved in our first year," Mr Houghton said.
"Our sponsorship of the Betta Electrical 500 will compliment our involvement with the race team and provides the ideal platform to further strengthen our position within the market and increase growth in our brands."
Round nine of the 2003 V8 Supercar Championship Series, the Betta Electrical 500 will be the first time V8 Supercars have contested a two-driver endurance race at Sandown in four years.
The Betta Electrical 500 will provide the perfect lead in for drivers and teams to fine tune their endurance race set ups prior to the Bob Jane T-Marts 1000 at Bathurst just one month later.
The Betta Electrical 500 will be held at Sandown Raceway from September 12-14, 2003.
