SBR to start third in today's Great Race

The Stone Brothers Racing JELD-WEN Motorsport Falcon will start today's Great Race from third on the grid following James Courtney's red hot lap in yesterday afternoon's top ten shoot out.

Courtney had a big go during his flying lap and showed great pace across the top of the mountain, just losing out at the first and last corners, posting a time of 2: 07.7025 seconds.

Garth Tander qualified on pole with Mark Winterbottom joining him on the front row.

The Shane van Gisbergen/Jonathan Webb SP Tools Racing Falcon will meanwhile start the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 from 12th, moving up one spot due to the withdrawal of the number 15 HSV Dealer Team entry following Paul Radisich's accident in this morning's practice session.

The SP Tools Racing duo of Shane van Gisbergen and Jonathon Webb had an interrupted practice this morning, not completing as many laps as planned due to two red flags and a late off for van Gisbergen at the chase.

The SP Tools Racing Falcon suffered no major damage and is well prepared for the 161-lap race today.

In the second and final Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series race, Webb claimed a podium finish with a second place finish.

Webb was unable to hang on to an early lead in today's 14-lap race, which started in wet conditions under safety car.

Webb held the lead for several laps but was unabl e to hold off Dean Canto when he made a move at the final turn onto the main straight.

Two safety car periods made for limited racing and when the green flag was shown for the final lap, Webb couldn't get close enough to steal back the lead.

Webb finished equal on points with Canto and second for the round.

The JELD-WEN Motorsport and SP Tools Racing Falcons will start the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 at 10:30am following a 20-minute morning warm up at 7:10am.

James Courtney, #4, JELD-WEN Motorsport

"There's two ways that you can approach the shoot out.

"You can cruise around at eight-tenths and put in a safe lap or you can take your family jewels, hang them on the off the rear vision mirror and have a go... that's the option I went for!

"The JELD-WEN Falcon was great across the top of the mountain and down the other side, I just couldn't get the most out of it in the first a last corners.< br> "But it's a good, comfortable car to drive. We won't need to do much to it tonight; this is how we will go racing tomorrow."

David Besnard, #4, JELD-WEN Motorsport

"As a spectator I am hopeless, there is nothing worse than watching your car in qualifying or a shoot out; nothing against James of course!

"It was pretty close and I thought we might just pull it off. But James gave it everything and did a great job, he certainly wasn't going to die wondering, that's for sure.

"The guys at SBR have done a great job, it's a nice car to drive and probably more a race car than a qualifying car and that's what we are after."

Shane van Gisbergen, #9, SP Tools Racing

"I really only got about three full laps in practice this morning with the red flags and practice stops.

"It probably wasn't enough to get a really good feel for the car so we will have a full session in the warm up. "I had an off at the chase, cold brakes and heavy tanks and I went too far in under brakes; luckily there was no major damage.

"We will start from 12th now and I think we have a pretty good race car that we can move forward with through the day."

Jonathon Webb, #9, SP Tools Racing

"Practice went to plan this morning. The SP Tools Racing Falcon felt pretty good on full tanks, nice and balanced.

"It was pretty low key, we didn't get through a lot of laps but we are ready for the race tomorrow.

"The Fujitsu race was a lot harder than Friday.

"Dean (Canto) seemed to have a bit more pace today and I couldn't pull away like I could yesterday.

"The SBR Falcon was still really good but I just didn't get the opportunity to have a go at Dean with all the safety cars.

"It was a good round for us anyway and hopefully we can take that form to Oran Park."
