Australia's Ultimate Tradesman to be crowned at Bathurst

Seven contestants will compete in the Australia / New Zealand Final of the IRWIN Industrial Tools Ultimate Tradesman Challenge at Mount Panorama Bathurst on October 11 for a chance to go onto the world final and the opportunity to win up to US$1.26 million

Victoria has the major representation with Rye plumber Shaun Puddy, Taylors Lakes joiner Sam Garratto, carpenter Jeff Cartwright of Rosebud and South Morang builder Glenn Potter all making it through to the Bathurst Final.

Joining them will be Nathan Vander Wielen of Eaton in Perth and Damian Max from Birkdale on Auckland's North Shore. There will also be another contestant announced during competition at the circuit.

The IRWIN Industrial Tools Ultimate Tradesman Challenge, which launched in February at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, requires competitors to measure, mark and drill a piece of wood, using IRWIN tools as quickly and accurately as possible.

IRWIN Racing driver Marcus Marshall recently unveiled the trophy for the Australia / New Zealand winner -- a custom-made Champions Tradesman's Belt featuring a boxing style buckle.

"The IRWIN Ultimate Tradesman Challenge Champions Belt has to be one of the coolest trophies I have ever seen," said Marshall.

"You certainly would feel like the king of the worksite with that belt around your waist!

"It has been amazing how committed the four Victoria winners have been. They have really embraced the competition and I'm sure they will all give it their best to win the Australia / New Zealand final."

The Australia / New Zealand Final will take place in the V8 pit/paddock area of the Mount Panorama Circuit directly behind the garage of the IRWIN Racing team at 3pm.

The champion of the Australia and New Zealand's Ultimate Tradesman Challenge will win a trip to the USA. There they will compete in the IRWIN International Ultimate Tradesman Challenge on November 9, in Phoenix where they have the chance to become a millionaire.
