FANTASTIC FIRST BATHURST FOR FDSR
With less than 30 laps of The Great Race to go, Karl Reindler was running in seventh place at Bathurst today and easily matching the lap times of championship leader James Courtney.
The Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing team was optimistic of even making up places judging by the strength of Reindler's drive but he and co-driver David Wall had their hopes dashed when a safety car was called on lap 134.
Reindler pitted and refueled to the end, rejoining ahead of Courtney, but said the car was transformed on its new tyres and slipped back to 15th at the chequered flag.
The next V8 Supercar round is the Gold Coast 600 on October 24.
KR makes a great start to run in 18th from 22nd on the grid. He races through to 14th before DW takes over on lap 26 and rejoins 17th
DW pits on lap 52 and rejoins 22nd. He pits again on 58 after Dean Fiore's safety car and KR rejoins 20th.
KR pits on lap 85 and DW rejoins just ahead of team-mate Matt Halliday. DW pits on lap 111 and KR rejoins 17th
KR pits when a safety car is called on lap 134 and fuels to the end. He rejoins seventh but the stop has transformed the car, possibly due to the tyres, and KR starts going backwards. Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing finishes 15th

"I've got mixed feelings about today. Before that last safety car I was as quick as James Courtney; he was behind me and never even had a crack at passing. The pace of the car was awesome and I was sure we were on for a top-five finish.
"We pitted for the final time on lap 134, fuelled to the end and everything was looking fantastic for a good result, but the car just transformed. It went from being one of the quickest cars out there to being a battle to drive.
"I still think it was a fantastic result for the team's first effort at Bathurst. We have to be happy with how we went; we proved a few points about what the car and team are capable of."
Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing Co-Driver
"It's the best I've ever finished a Supercar race but when you get a sniff at the top ten you want to be there; that was our main aim for this weekend. It was not to be but hopefully there'll be another opportunity next year.
"I was very happy with the way I drove the car and the pace we had. The way the strategy worked out I was in the pack with a lot of full time guys and stood up for myself. The pace was good enough for the guys around me, and better than some. "
