SBR NOT CONCERNED WITH SLOW START AT PERTH BIGPOND 300

Stone Brothers Racing team boss, Ross Stone says there is no need for panic after both the SP Tools Racing and IRWIN Racing Falcons finished today's practice sessions in 17th and 20th respectively.

Shane van Gisbergen was hoping that his speed earlier this month at the Phillip Island International Circuit would translate at Barbagallo but today proved to be a bit of a struggle for the kiwi and his teammate.

Shane van Gisbergen - Driver, SP Tools Racing Car #9

"It's never nice seeing your name down there in the last five cars but we managed to pull it together at the end and make a bit of a recovery.

"We put a second set of tyres on and we jumped up, we knew the main reason we were struggling was probably that the tyres I had weren't that good.

"I was happy with how we progressed throughout the sessions. I know tomorrow we will be fine and in qualifying we'll be shooting for a top ten.

"It was almost felt like I got one lap in before another red flag was called, it can get a bit frustrating but it's to be expected with all the deep sand traps around this place."

Alex Davison - Driver, IRWIN Racing Car #4

"Today wasn't the best day for SBR with both cars struggling early with balance, it's a really low grip track so trying to get good overall balance and grip in the cars was what was proving to be difficult.

"The good thing was that we did improve and towards the end of the day started to get direction.

Ross Stone - SBR Team Principal

"Obviously we didn't get the start to the weekend we hoped for but there is no need for panic. A tenth can change your whole day with only 1.6 seconds across the field."

Alex Davison's last time at the Barbagallo circuit was in 2004 when he took victory in a Porsche.

The V8 Supercars will be back on track tomorrow at 9:30am for Leg 1 of Qualifying.
