JASON BRIGHT QUALIFIES ON THE FRONT ROW FOR FIRST DESERT 400 V8 SUPERCAR RACE

November 24, 2006 - CAT FPR Falcon driver Jason Bright will start today's first Desert 400 V8 Supercar race from the front row after qualifying second, then sprinting to the second fastest lap of the top ten shoot-out at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Ford Credit FPR Falcon driver Mark Winterbottom was not as fortunate in qualifying, with traction (tyre grip) problems causing the 25 year old driver to miss out on a top ten shoot-out berth by just one tenth of a second. As a result, Winterbottom will start today's race from 15th on the Bahrain starting grid.

Bright missed Pole position by just 6/100ths of a second to Holden rival Garth Tander, with Rick Kelly, Todd Kelly and Ford driver James Courtney rounding off the top five.

Today's combined qualifying session was held in heavily overcast conditions, which cleared to sunshine by the top ten shoot-out. Conditions in Bahrain are warm (25C) and partly cloudy at 1:00pm local time.
