Big field ready to bring motor racing excitement to Wakefield Park

Around 120 cars and drivers are expected to contest rounds of six national championships when the PROCAR Champ Series heads to Goulburn's Wakefield Park circuit at the end of this month.

Touring car legends Peter Brock, in a Holden Monaro, and John Bowe, in a Ferrari, will be among the stars of the headline event, the Australian Nations Cup Championship, along with Paul Stokell (Lamborghini), Greg Crick (Chrysler Viper) and Nathan Pretty (Monaro).

Last year's PROCAR Champ Series event AT Wakefield Park attracted almost 16,000 people and more than 400 utes in the ute muster and organisers PROCAR Australia are hoping for an even bigger attendance this year.

"The fans gave us an overwhelming vote of popularity with a record crowd last year, so this year our competitors can't wait to get back," said John Cowley, PROCAR Deputy Executive Chairman.

"We're bringing a line-up of cars and stars unprecedented at Wakefield Park."

Races will feature the Nations Cup, Australian GT Performance Championship, Australian Production Car Championship, Poolrite V8 BRutes Series, Australian Formula 3 Championship and Falken Tyres Mitsubishi Mirage Series.

They promise the most diverse dislay of cars in Australian motor racing, from exotic GT sports cars in the Nations Cup, to high performance touring cars in the GTP and Production series, international-class single seaters in Formula 3 and the spectacular V8 Holden and Ford BRutes.

Weekend attractions for fans also will include autograph sessions with drivers and another ute muster.

The ute muster will fill a reserved trackside area for the third straight year, with ute drivers will be admitted free with a paying passenger.

Entry is optional in the ute muster competition, which will feature seven categories with a trophy for the winner in each.

Owners may enter their ute at the track, or complete an official entry form available at www.v8brutes.com.au.
