Triple treat at Queensland Raceway this weekend
Campers, cars and a concert will ensure a festive opening day of racing during the fourth round of the PROCAR Champ Series at Queensland Raceway this weekend.
Ute club members from as far a field as Ballarat and Bendigo down south and out west to Charleville and Cunnamulla will converge on the Willowbank circuit this Saturday and their presence is bound to provide an interesting spectacle.
Most are sure to take advantage of a unique camping opportunity which will mark yet another first for Queensland Raceway.
"It's all part of the inaugural Festival of the Ute. We've opened up the entire western mound for overnight campers who'll be greeted by a magnificent rural view of Willowbank and the sound of roaring engines on Sunday," Queensland Raceway Chairman, John Tetley said.
"A festival concert will be held in the VIP car park on Saturday night for revellers to soak up the party atmosphere of the PROCAR Champ Series and this is open to campers as well as the general public."
"The Festival of the Ute will be run in conjunction with the "It's raining Utes out West" drought relief campaign with prizes awarded in a number of categories including Best Chicks Ute, Best Holden Ute and Best Ford Ute."
"As well as the show and shine there'll also be active components to the festivities with a special dirt track recreation area to be used from 12pm Saturday for a ute pull and race around the tyres."
"From 4.30pm the track will be open to the first 50 ute nominations to compete in a burnout competition and sprint racing up the back straight."
The V8 BRutes will be featured on the PROCAR program and they're bound to receive a resounding reception from the strong country contingent in attendance.
