The Cat Racing team completed a clean sweep of top ten results at the Australian Grand Prix with John Bowe finishing 6th in today's final race of the weekend.
The results of 8th, 4th and 6th has left the Queensland-based squad in a confident mood for the 2001 Shell Championship Series.
"Although we were disappointed to miss out on a podium spot yesterday, the overall results were pretty pleasing," Bowe said.
"We improved the car over the course of the weekend and finished with a very consistent racecar.
"We still have a lot more improvements to make, but the whole team worked well on the weekend and and I am now really looking forward to Phillip Island.
"The secret this year will be to be consistent - particularly with the longer races."
Today's final race was won by Ford's Paul Radisich ahead of Craig Lowndes (Ford) and Russell Ingall (Holden).
Bowe was unfortunate to loose two spots early in the event - one when forced wide by Ingall at the first turn, and the second to Todd Kelly when he and Bowe were battling to get past Steven Richards.
"Richards had lost his front bar and was really struggling for speed," Bowe said.
"We got a run on him and I went one way and Kelly went the other, unfortunately Richards moved the wrong way and I lost out.
"After that I was actually quicker than Kelly under brakes, but he was a little quicker off the turns.
"Our times were very consistent throughout the entire race.
"The boys have done a good job and I can't wait to get hold of the new car - hopefully for Eastern Creek."
Scoring points is Bowe's main aim for 2001 - with the Tasmanian keen for a strong championship assault.
"If this was a point scoring round, we would have finished up with a really good result," Bowe said.
"That is our target this year. Keeping out of trouble will be the secret and making sure you are still running strong at the finish."\
