Brisbane - June 25, 2004 - Ex-Formula One driver Alex Yoong and Kiwi star John McIntyre added an international flavour to Wright Patton Shakespeare (WPS) Racing's final test session ahead of the sixth round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

The test was held yesterday at WPS Racing's home track of Queensland Raceway -- the same venue that will house the Queensland 300 the following week.

Yoong and McIntyre tested alongside WPS regulars drivers David Besnard and Mark Noske.

Besnard and Noske concentrated on various improvements to their car setups, while Yoong and McIntyre slotted in late in the session to test for a place in the main V8 series' future endurance races for WPS.

"I'm happy with the test today. The set-up of the Ford BA Falcon and the seat position were not ideal for me, so I wasn't entirely comfortable with the car yet. But I think I've done enough for the team to, hopefully, make a positive decision for me to join them in Sandown and Bathurst." said Yoong after the test.

WPS Racing team manager Keith Evers said a final decision on the team's endurance drivers for the main V8 Supercars races at Sandown and Bathurst is expected to be made very soon.

Yoong is currently gaining experience in the V8 category through a three-drive deal in the Konica Minolta Series with Shane Beikoff Racing.

The 27-year-old Malaysian has a celebrated history in motorsport.
