Richards to start seventh at Albert Park

Jason Richards has carried over his strong qualifying pace from Adelaide to Melbourne by placing his Tasman Motorsport Commodore firmly in the top 10 in qualifying for tomorrow's opening Panasonic V8 Supercar race at the Australian Grand Prix.

The Kiwi was seventh fastest in today's 45-minute qualifying session, while team-mate Andrew Jones will line up 19th in the #23 Sleepyhead machine.

Race one for the V8 Supercars will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 3.30pm and held over 10 laps of the Albert Park street circuit.

This weekend's three V8 Supercar races are non-championship events with no championship points awarded.

QUOTEBOOK

Jason Richards (#3 Sleepyhead/Tasman Motorsport Holden Commodore VZ) "It's another good result for Tasman Motorsport. Our pace is consistently in the top 10 and that's a sign that we've definitely taken another step forward. Our next goal is racing at the front and staying there. Doing that at the Grand Prix in front of such a big crowd would be absolutely ideal."

Andrew Jones (#23 Sleepyhead/Tasman Motorsport Holden Commodore VZ) "This is a good weekend to try a few setup things that we normally wouldn't risk trying at a championship round or one of our invaluable test days. I'm still building my relationship with my engineer (Rob Palermo) and we're working away. We're chipping away, improving the car all the time and becoming comfortable."
