PITHER EXTENDS LEAD

Series leader Chris Pither of Palmerston North extended his points margin when he claimed another race win in the 2009/2010 NZV8 Utes Series at Powerbuilt Tools Raceway, Ruapuna in Christchurch today. Pither, 'The Doctor', took pole position in his ENZED Falcon and led from start to finish, going on to a comfortable win ahead of his closest rival and defending series champion Caine Lobb, the 'Ginja Ninja' of Whangarei.

Pither arrived at the penultimate round of the series on the 3.3 kilometre Canterbury circuit with a 40 point lead over Lobb and todays win has seen him extend that further.

The 23-year-old, fresh from racing in the Legends V8 Ute races at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide last weekend, will line up for three further 8 lap races tomorrow. The first, which features a grid decided by marble draw, starts at 11.10am tomorrow morning. Pither today drew grid position three for the race which will put him in a good spot for another top result. The third race of the round at 1.45pm will reverse the marble grid draw meaning Pither will be less favourably placed. The final race of day takes place at 4.50pm tomorrow afternoon and the grid will be established by the points scored at the round to that point.

The final round of the series takes place at the Timaru International Motor Raceway next weekend - 27/28 March.
